Preview: Face to face - Paris-Veszprém

On Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain will take on Veszprém at Coubertin in Group A's headline clash. We take a look ahead to this all-important final home game of the EHF Champions League group stage.

Quarter-finals in our sights

This EHF Champions League campaign has certainly been an emotional rollercoaster. Defeated by Plock (28-31) at Coubertin and relegated to fourth place as EHF CHampions League action resumed for 2025, the capital club quickly won their way back to second place by beating Fredericia (32-38) last time out. Taking advantage of missteps by Sporting and Berlin, our Rouge et Bleu moved back into position for direct qualification for the quarters, and with just two matcs remaining, they aren't about to let it slip through their fingers.

However, they now face a formidable Veszprém side who have won no fewer than eleven out of twelve matches on Europe's biggest stage this season. Needless to say, the Hungarians are not going to make it easy for their opponents. Even though they have already secured first place in the group, Xavi Pascual's men will be keen to continue their fine run and send a message to their rivals in the competition. An intense battle awaits our Parisians, who will need the unwavering support of everyone at Coubertin if they are to potentially also ensure their direct qualification for the quarter-finals.

Familiar faces

On Thursday, Coubertin fans will have a chance to catch up with two former Parisians. At the club between 2017 and 2020, Rodrigo Corrales had already made his return to Les Rouge et Bleus' lair in 2021 and 2022. On his last trip to the French capital, the Spanish goalkeeper shone particularly brightly, with sixteen saves to his name as his team clinched a last-minute victory (39-40). However, it will be a first for Nedim Remili since leaving Paris in 2022. The right-back, who has already scored 63 goals after twelve rounds of matches, will undoubtedly be one of the men to watch for Veszprém. With eleven saves for the former and seven goals for the latter, the pair of Les Rouge et Bleu alumni showed their former club no mercy in the first meeting this season (41-28).
