Preview: 5 things about PSG Handball - Cesson-Rennes

On Saturday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball return to the Stade Pierre de Coubertin! On the occasion Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 12, they play host Cesson-Rennes.

1 - THE TABLE

Winners over Ivry last week (26-39), Les Rouge et Bleu sit atop the league standings, alongside Montpellier - but with a better goal difference (+72) than the Héraultais (+62). Moreover, they are on a series of nine consecutive domestic victories!

After an excellent start in the Liqui Moly StarLigue, which saw them flirting with the podium, the Bretons seem to have fallen off. They have lost their last two games, in Dunkerque (32-31) and against Aix (25-28), and are now in seventh place.

2 - SOME KEY STATS

This game should live up to its promise, especially at one end of the court. The league's best attack (Paris, with 420 units) will be up against the most efficient defence (Cesson-Rennes, with only 317 goals conceded). Our top-ten scorers, Kamil Syprzak (80 goals), Elohim Prandi (69) and Dainis Kristopans (69), will have to get the better of Cesson's last line of defence, Arnaud Tabarand, who is third on the save chart (117). Note that Andreas Palicka is not far behind, with 109 stops.

3 - HEAD TO HEAD

The two teams are facing each other for the 23rd time in the league. The historical record is largely to the advantage of the capital club, who boast 18 wins, one draw and three defeats. As a reminder, Les Rouge et Bleu's last win over the Bretons saw them set an enviable record: they became the first Liqui Moly StarLigue team to start a season with 23 wins!
