Preview: 5 things about Paris - Toulouse

After an international break, Paris Saint-Germain Handball are back in Liqui Moly StarLigue action, with a crunch Round 20 clash with Toulouse at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin!

1 - THE TABLE

Despite their defeat in Chambéry (34-33), Les Rouge et Bleu are still in the title race! With a win, they would be two points behind leaders Montpellier, with the return match against the Héraultais to be played at Coubertin.

Fenix are also having a great season. Fifth before travelling to the capital, they could come back to within one point of fourth (Chambéry) if they win in our arena.

2 - SOME KEY STATS

Statistically, the two teams are very close. The Parisian and Toulousain offensive lines have scored 671 and 603 times respectively. The competition's top scorer is Toulouse's Nemanja Ilic, with 136 goals, while our Elohim Prandi is not far behind with 114.

Defensively, the duel is even tighter, between two rearguards that are almost equal statistically speaking. Fenix have conceded 571 goals since the start of the season, while the Parisians have seen their nets shake 577 times in 19 games. Toulouse keeper Jef Lettens is second on the saves chart (187), slightly ahead of our last bastion Andreas Palicka (169).

3 - A LOOK BACK AT THE FIRST LEG

At the end of September, Les Rouge et Bleu travelled to the Palais des Sports André-Brouat in Toulouse, for Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 3. The game did not go very well for our players, who lost (35-27), thus putting an end to a record run of six consecutive wins in the championship. Historically, however, the capital club dominates this confrontation, with 28 wins, two draws and five defeats.

4 - FENIX TOPPLING TOP-OF-THE-TABLE SIDES

But Paris is not the only top team to have fallen to Fenix. The Toulousains have alas beaten Nantes (32-31) and Montpellier (31-30), who occupy the top spots in our championship. We will therefore have to be wary of this formidable team.
