Preview: 5 things about Paris - Montpellier

On Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain Handball host Montpellier at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in the final match of Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 11. We take a look ahead to this top-of-the-table clash.

1 - THE TABLE

Les Rouge et Bleu overcame Aix-en-Provence last week (31-39) to record their tenth win in as many league games. The capital club have now taken sole control of the Liqui Moly StarLigue following the first slip-up by Montpellier, their opponents on Sunday evening.

The Hérault-region outfit recently failed to win for the first time this season. After nine consecutive wins, Montpellier were held to a draw at home by Saint-Raphaël (35-35). Patrice Cannayer's men are now second in the table, one point behind the capital club.

2 - THE BEST ATTACK...

With 380 goals scored, the capital club are by far the most prolific team in the Liqui Moly StarLigue. The Parisians can always count on Kamil Syprzak, the undisputed top scorer after ten rounds with 77 goals to his name. The Polish international forms a superb partnership with Luc Steins, who has bagged 40 goals and 46 assists.

3 - AGAINST THE BEST DEFENCE!

However, Les Rouge et Bleu will have their work cut out against Montpellier, who have the best defence in the league with 275 goals conceded. With an average of nine saves per game, Rémi Desbonnet is undoubtedly the strong point of Montpellier's rearguard. Defensively solid, the French international is also spearheading Montpellier's lightning counter-attacks this season, having already provided ten assists.

4 - HEAD TO HEAD

A true classic of the French championship, the meetings between Paris and Montpellier often yield historic performances. The record is very close, with Paris on 19 victories - compared to MHB's 13 - while there have been three draws.
