Preview: 5 things about Paris - Dunkerque

After the Coupe de France and the EHF Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain Handball make their return to the Liqui Moly StarLigue for the first time in 2023, playing host to US Dunkerque at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin for Round 16.

1- THE TABLE

After a spectacular 32-33 victory over Nantes just before the break, the capital club have drawn level with league leaders Montpellier. Nonetheless, Les Rouge et Bleu trail their rivals on head-to-head goal difference (-1), which cannot be change until they meet once again in the league, in April.

Dunkerque, on the other hand, have been blowing hot and cold since the beginning of the season, as reflected by their place in the middle of the table (eighth with 14 points), but also by their results: seven wins, one draw and eight defeats.

2 - SOME STATISTICS

Les Rouge et Bleu are having a great season. They have the best attack in the league (519 goals), thanks largely to the trio of Elohim Prandi, Kamil Syprzak and Dainis Kristopans, who have baged 88, 85 and 83 goals respectively. In this domain, USDK are in 11th place with 452 units, Théo Avelange-Demouge top-scoring with 87 goals so far this season.

At the other end of the pitch, the defence led by Andreas Palicka (129 saves) and Jannick Green (50) is the fourth-best in the league (443 goals conceded). The Northerners have conceded 452 goals and can count on the excellent Samir Bellahcene, second on the league's saves chart with 170.

3 - A LOOK BACK AT THE FIRST LEG

Last October, Raul Gonzalez's men travelled to the Stades de Flandres to challenge Dunkerque in Round 7. The excellent France international Elohim Prandi, who set a new personal best for goals in a single game by finding the net 14 times, was instrumental in the 32-38 win.

4 - HEAD TO HEAD

The general record of confrontations is to the advantage of the Parisians, who have 24 victories, one draw and only nine defeats against USDK. Our players have won 15 times in a row in this fixture.
