Preview: 5 things about Paris - Chartres

A few days after qualifying for the EHF Champions League Final4, Paris Saint-Germain Handball are back in Liqui Moly StarLigue action. On Sunday, they play host to Chartres in their Round 27 clash at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin.

1- THE TABLE

Les Rouge et Bleu are in third position ahead of their clash with Chartres. However, they have played fewer games than their two rivals (one game fewer than Nantes and two fewer than Montpellier). A win on Sunday afternoon would allow them to regain their lead.

Meanwhile, Chartres are not yet assured of staying in the top flight. They are currently two points clear of Istres and the relegation zone. In the last few rounds, they will have to face several direct opponents.

2 - KEY STATS

Offensively, the two teams are far apart. The capital club scores a lot of goals (930) - thanks to Kamil Syprzak (149) and Elohim Prandi (146) - while Chartres are struggling a bit in this sector, with 735, despite Vanja Ilic's 127 strikes.

Defensively, however, Chartres are doing much better, with only 788 goals conceded. Julien Meyer is sixth on the saves chart, with 203. Just ahead of him is Paris' Andreas Palicka with 215 saves, leading a rearguard that has conceded just 771 goals.

3 - A LOOK BACK AT PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS

This is the third time this season that Paris and Chartres will face each other - and the first two duels were very close! First, in the league, Les Rouge et Bleu won by one point at the Halle Jean Cochet (32-33), after a 10 from 10 by Kamil. In February, in the Coupe de France, Raul Gonzalez's men once again left Chartres victorious (35-37).

4 - HEAD TO HEAD

This is the ninth meeting between these clubs in the Liqui Moly StarLigue. The first eight have gone the way of of Paris Saint-Germain Handball!
