Preview: 5 things about Dijon - Paris

Paris Saint-Germain Handball return to Liqui Moly StarLigue action after their European adventure. On Sunday afternoon, the Les Rouge et Bleu take on Dijon in their Round 27 clash at the Palais des Sports Jean-Michel Geoffroy.

1 - THE TABLE

Having been promoted to France's handball elite this season, Dijon are at a disadvantage in the home straight. The Burgundians are currently bottom of the table, three points shy of safety.

Paris, meanwhile, are at the other end of the table; our side sit atop the standings, three points clear of nearest chasers Nantes. Only a draw against Toulouse and a defeat at Nantes have thwarted Raul Gonzalez's plans in a season that has seen his side rack up 24 wins in 26 games.

2 - A BRILLIANT ATTACK...

As has often been the case over the last few seasons, Paris' attacking line is the one that stands out the most in the league. Once again, the Rouge et Bleu are top of the attacking charts, with 933 goals. This figure is largely due to the ruthless efficiency of Kamil Syprzak, the competition's top scorer, who, with 191 goals, has already broken his personal record for goals in a single season. 786 goals have been scored by Dijon (13th on the attacking chart), including 126 by Pierrick Naudin.

3 - AN EFFECTIVE DEFENCE

At the other end of the court, things are also going well for the Parisian rearguard. The 212 saves made by Jannick Green and the 128 made by Andreas Palicka (as well as 16 for Léo Villain!) bear witness to this. Our trio have helped the capital club rack up the third-best defensive record in the league (765 goals conceded). It's a little more complicated for our opponents, with 897 goals conceded (only Saint-Raphaël have leaked more goals, with 914). However, Wassim Helal has been a consistent performer in Dijon's goal, making 168 saves in his first Liqui Moly Starligue season. Dijon can also count on the good form of Manuel Gaspar.

4 - HEAD TO HEAD

This will be the sixth time that Paris and Dijon meet in the league. The debates have been fairly even, with two wins for the Mustard Men (in 2011) and three in favour of Les Rouge et Bleu. In the first meeting this season, Kamil Syprzak bagged eight goals as the capital club cruised to a solid 40-22 victory.
