Preview: 5 things about Créteil - Paris

The end of the season is drawing near! Now well into the home stretch, Paris Saint-Germain Handball play a derby against Créteil in their Round 29 Liqui Moly StarLigue clash on Friday evening.

1 - THE TABLE

Although Paris Saint-Germain have yet to secure their place in the French handball elite, they are in a very favourable position. With a two-point lead over the red zone, they could even make their goal official if they beat Paris.

Despite losing 32-33 at home to Nîmes last week, the capital club are still top of the league. In the event of Nantes' getting a poor result at Ivry and PSG a win at Créteil, our team would be crowned champions of France.

2 - KEY STATS

In the last round, Paris became the first team this season to pass the 1,000-goal mark (1,003), with two of our players among the league's top scorers: Kamil Syprzak (195) and Elohim Prandi (142). Créteil, meanwhile, have found the back of the net 833 times, thanks in large part to Mario Lopez Alvarez's 149 goals.

Defensively, Raul Gonzalez's men are also doing well, having conceded just 829 goals. Jannick Green is our top 'keeper for saves, with no fewer than 230 shots saved. For USC, Dylan Soyez is just behind with 193 saves. He leads a defence that has been beaten 918 times since the start of the season.

3 - THE LAST AWAY GAME (OR ALMOST)

This Friday, Les Rouge et Bleu play their last match of the season away from home. The record so far is more than positive, with 14 away games, 13 wins and just one defeat. The final home game will be at the Accor Arena, against Aix; the Parisians will not return to Coubertin until next season.

4 - HEAD TO HEAD

This is the 30th meeting between Créteil and Paris in the Liqui Moly StarLigue. The record so far is in Paris' favour, with 18 wins to eight defeats and three draws. In the first meeting this season, the Parisians won (35-27) thanks in particular to Jannick's 18 saves.
