Preview: 5 things about Chambéry - Paris

Paris Saint-Germain handball travel to Le Phare on Sunday to take on Chambéry in on Liqui Moly StarLigue Matchday 11. Find out all you need to know about this fixture.

1 - Form

Having struggled at the start of the season, with four defeats in the first five games, Chambéry have now found their rhythm. The side from Savoie won three of their last four to make a rapid ascent up the standings just before the international break. However, their good form came to an end last week. Back at their home ground, Chambéry were caught off guard by an enterprising Tremblay side who fought right to the end to spring the upset and hand the Yellow and Blacks a second home defeat for the season (28-29).

For their part, the capital club are enjoying a dream start to their campaign. With a third of the season already gone, Raul Gonzalez and his men still boast a perfect record. Before the international break, Les Rouge et Bleu scored a landmark victory over a solid Montpellier side at Coubertin (29-23). Last week, the capital club showed their splendid spirit to overcome Aix in a thrilling 28-26 win.

2 - Chambéry: Rigour and discipline

The team from the Savoie region team have quite simply committed the fewest fouls so far this season. As a result, they are also the side with the fewest suspensions, with just nine two-minute exclusions after ten matches. Our players will therefore have to make the necessary efforts to break Team Chambéry down. It's not going to be an easy task, however, as the team from Le Phare have been very diligent. Despite sometimes lacking cutting edge in front of goal, the Yellow and Blacks are effective defensively, having lost possession a league-best 46 times this season.

3 - A promising RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN

Sixth last season, Chambéry may not have been very active in the transfer market, but they were extremely efficient. To compensate for the departure of Filip Ivic, they struck a blow by signing Valentin Kieffer, voted best goalkeeper in the Liqui Moly StarLigue last season. Kieffer, who was recently called up to the French national team for the first time in his career, wasted no time in proving his worth in Savoie, making 16 saves against former club Dunkerque on Matchday 8. With Benjamin Richert (best right-winger), Chambéry now have two NHL Trophy winners in its squad. The only other major summer recruit, Hugo Pimenta, has joined the top flight after proving his scoring prowess in the ProLigue. Voted best right-back in the second division after a season of 100 goals and 45 assists, the 21-year-old prospect suffered a setback in March - a serious knee injury, which has, for the time being, prevented him from making his debut for his new team.

4 - HEAD TO HEAD

The Parisians and the Savoyards are no strangers to each other, as both have been regulars in the French top flight for several decades. The two sides regularly put on a great show, keeping us on the edge of our seats right up until the final buzzer. However, the balance regularly tips in favour of the capital club. Our Parisians dominate the proceedings overall, with 23 wins to 12 defeats and two draws, but Chambéry hold a narrow advantage in their own turf. The Yellow and Blacks have beaten the capital club nine times at Le Phare, for eight defeats. On Sunday, Paris will be looking to add a third consecutive win to their tally against Chambéry, all while continuing their perfect run in the league despite an increasingly gruelling fixture list.
