Preview: 5 things about Aix - PSG

Already crowned champions of France, Paris Saint-Germain Handball Rond out their Liqui Moi StarLigue 2022-2023 campaign on Tuesday evening. In Round 30, they travel to the Arena du Pays d'Aix to take on Aix.

1 - THE TABLE

Thanks to their 35-32 win over Nantes last week, Les Rouge et Bleu have secured top spot and officially clinched the tenth French league title in club history. Aix, meanwhile, are in mid-table. While a win could see the Provençal climb to seventh place, a defeat could see them drop as far as 11th.

2 - KEY STATS

Paris's attack is the most prolific in the league. With 1,041 goals, our team is the only one with a four-figure tally. This fine statistic is largely down to the 162 and 158 goals scored by Kamil Syprzak and Elohim Prandi respectively. It's a little more complicated for PAUC, who have scored just 843 goals, including 120 for Gabriel Loesch.

Defensively, things have been a little tighter. While the Aix-en-Provence rearguard has conceded 889 goals, the capital club's backline has been beaten just 867 times since the start of the season. With 216 saves, our 'keeper Andreas Palicka is our leading 'keeper, while Aix can count on Alejandro Romero and his 183 saves.

3 - A LOOK BACK AT THE FIRST MATCH

In mid-November, the two sides met for the first time this season. The duel was extremely tense and Paris had to wait until the last 20 minutes (37': 22-22) to break clear and claim another victory (37-32). On an individual level, Elohim once again shone, with ten goals to his name.

4 - THE FINAL DAY

This match will be the final domestic fixture for the Rouge et Bleu. But the season is not over yet! In mid-June, Raul Gonzalez's men will take part in the EHF Champions League Final4 at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne. They will face Kielce on 17 June (the finals will take place the following day).
