Goals galore as Paris get the better of Chartres

Comptes-rendus

On Friday evening, Paris Saint-Germain Handball beat Chartres 44-30 at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin. Here's a look back at the first league clash of 20224 - a match packed with goals.

Paris Saint-Germain Handball returned to league action on Friday when they played host to Chartres at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin om their Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 16 clash. After a flawless first half of the season, Les Rouge et Bleu were keen to keep up the momentum against an opponent who had struggled to find their rhythm thus far in the campaign.

Spurred on by a capacity crowd cheering their heroes on, the Parisians got off to a dream start, forcing the visitors to call an early time-out (4': 5-0). Les Rouge et Bleu did not slow down though, and maintained their lead thanks to Jacob Holm's third goal (5': 7-2).

Holm, unstoppable in the first half, scored his seventh goal from as many attempts before Kent took his side's lead past the ten-goal mark (18': 17-7). Chartres stopped play again to try and get back into the match, but they were still unable to prevent Paris from pulling further ahead (23': 20-8). A few minutes before the break, Jannick Green joined the party by scoring from his own area (27': 23-10). Clinical in attack and unbeatable in defence, our team returned to the dressing room having delivered a faultless performance (30': 27-13).

For the second act, Andreas, Nikola and Elohim, all three medallists at the Euros in January, took to the court. It was our number 71 who was the first to shine, with his trademark super-powerful shot (34': 30-15). As the final quarter-hour approached, Niko found the back of the net and made further club history by scoring his 500th Liqui Moly StarLigue goal for Les Rouge et Bleu (44': 37-21).

Although victory was already all but assured at the start of the second half, the Parisians did not let up, with Andreas pulling off a fine save from Valentin Bzdynga, a former capital club player (55': 42-28). Serious and diligent throughout, Paris Saint-Germain Handball beat Chartres in style to resume the Liqui Moly StarLigue campaign (60': 44-30). On Wednesday, Raul Gonzalez's men make their return to the EHF Champions League, travelling to Northern Macedonia to take on Eurofarm Pelister.
