Paris take another step towards the title

Paris Saint-Germain Handball's 34-37 win at Saint-Raphaël has given them some breathing space in the league ahead of a title decider against Nantes at Coubertin next Friday.

Les Rouge et Bleu had their work cut out this Saturday against Saint-Raphael in Liqui Moly Starligue Round 28 at the Palais des Sports Jean-François Krakowski. The day after Nantes drew with Nîmes (28-28), Raul Gonzalez's men had the chance to move two points clear of The H and Montpellier at the top of the table.

The players from the capital were well on top, particularly Elohim Prandi, who started the game with a brace (3': 1-2). But after that, Paris Saint-Germain Handball had a tough time of it against the home side, who were having some success offensively, and Petar Nenadic's six first-half goals couldn't prevent Raul Gonzalez's men from taking a two-goal deficit into the break (30': 19-17). However, the Parisian coach took advantage of the break to reorganise his team tactically.

The changes paid off, as Paris took the lead at the start of the second half, notably after a fine interception by Luc Steins (40': 23-24). Elohim Prandi then brought his power to bear with a ring strikes (46': 25-27), while Jannick Green - with ten saves to his name - was imperious in goal. Kamil Syprzak, Paris's top scorer in the match with eight goals, added another (54': 28-35). In the end, it was 34-37 for the players from the capital!

The win means the Parisians are now in sole control of top spot in the league, just before hosting Nantes next Friday at Coubertin. It's another crunch clash and it could see Raul Gonzalez's side clinch the tenth title in club history. So come one, come all to support our warriors!
