Paris in Group B

On Friday morning, the draw for the group stage of the next edition of the EHF Champions League was held. Paris Saint-Germain Handball now know who their opponents for the first round are !

Les Rouge et Bleu will be in group B, up against some very strong teams! Among them, there are reigning European Champions Barcelona. We will also be pitted against two of our former players, who will make their first return to the Stade Pierre de Coubertin: Rodrigo Corrales' Veszprém and Dylan Nahi's Kielce. Raul Gonzalez's side will also clash with porto and Flensburg - teams they played in the group stage of the last edition.

Finally, while the Parisians have already played two Champions League matches against Zaporozhye (two wins in the 2018-2019 edition), it will be the first time they cross swords with Dinamo Bucharest. This should have been the case in 2020, in a round of 16 match, but the competition was cut short and then reorganised following the arrival of the pandemic.

The reaction of our General Manager Thierry Omeyer:
"It's a very tough group, with only top teams! We will play the defending champions, Barcelona, but also a lot of teams that aim to qualify for the EHF Final4 every year. There will also be Porto, who are getting bigger and bigger on the European scene; Bucharest, who have strengthened up well; and Zaporozhye, who are now used to playing in this competition. So it's a very difficult group. With just two groups, it's to be expected that we regularly meet opponents that we have played plenty of times, and it makes for some great matches! Our supporters will also be able to watch some epic clashes at Coubertin."
