Mikki hits 1000th goal

On Wednesday evening, in Istres (25-35), in the first round of the new Lidl StarLigue season, Mikkel Hansen reached the symbolic milestone of 1000 goals in the French championship.

Before him, no Parisian had managed to achieve this performance by scoring all his goals with the capital club. The Danish international has now done so, having hit the ground running in the first game of the season, with one of his five goals of the evening taking him over into four digits! He is now in tenth place among the all-time top scorers in the French handball elite, with 1003 goals.

A great achievement for our left-back, who is now in his eighth season in Rouge et Bleu. He will be remembered for his excellent 2015-2016 season, when he finished as the league's top scorer with 228 goals. It should be noted that he is the first player to have surpassed 200 goals in one season - and he has achieved the feat twice (with 203 in 2014-2015)! What's more, he is now only three lengths short of a career total of 300 successful penalty throws, and no doubt he won't stop there!
