Luc Abalo: 'Strong motivation'

On Wednesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain Handball won 28-38 in their Lidl StarLigue Round 15 match in Aix. Raul Gonzalez, Luc Abalo and Raul Gonzalez gave us their thoughts on the win and the upcoming match against Szeged.

Raul Gonzalez (Paris Saint-Germain Handball coach):
"Aix had some problems with injuries. It's difficult to play a whole match with a right-hander on the right. But I'm happy because the attack and defence worked well. Rodrigo (Corrales) played a very good match! When you have a goalkeeper like that, it's hard to lose. In the second half, we kept our cool. I'm very happy! Szeged played a day earlier than us so they'll have one more day to prepare for our match. We know it's going to be difficult to go out there and win, but we're going to try to do it."

Luc Abalo (Paris Saint-Germain Handball right-winger):
"For an away league match, it's a very good result. We have to keep it up! It's good for the atmosphere in the team... It's strong motivation to finish the season well. I think the team is good, so it's positive. Our defense in a 5-1 is difficult to get around. When we use it, it goes well. Everybody understands the principles of the game. There's movement, so we win the ball back. We still have to work on it because it's going to help us in the big games. Now we have to go and win in Szeged. The coach is happy because we are going to Hungary with more confidence."

Rodrigo Corrales (Paris Saint-Germain Handball goalkeeper):
"We knew we had to be ready to play here, where we lost two years ago. We're satisfied because the defence worked well from the start of the game and by half-time we'd already made the difference. We further increased our advantage in the second half and that allowed us to cruise. We knew the 5-1 was working well. It made it easier for me to make saves. We're happy with the win and the team's performance. We have to repeat that against Szeged on Sunday. We'll have to win there to secure second place in the pool."
