Key stats from Les Rouge et Bleus' start to the season
Paris Saint-Germain Handball have made a serious start to the season, with a trophy to their name and a clean sheet in the league. As the return to competition approaches, we take a look at the key figures for the start of the season.
THE CHAMPIONS WIN THEIR TROPHY
To open the season, Paris Saint-Germain won their fifth Trophée des Champions. At the Glaz Arena in Rennes, the Les Rouge et Bleu got their season off to the best possible start with a 35-25 win over a valiant Nantes side. An effective attack and a solid defence were the hallmarks of Raul Gonzalez's side's start to the season.
SYPRZAK AND STEINS: BOSS MODE
One of the main reasons the capital club have been so effective this early in the season is the excellent form of Kamil Syprzak. The Polish international leads the scoring charts in both the Liqui Moly Starligue (62 goals in eight matches) and the EHF Champions League (42 goals in the first six games). Syprzak was instrumental in a number of victories, notably at Chambéry (26-34), where his awesome performance yielded ten goals, a personal best for the Pole this season.
Syprzak has been able to rely on the Parisians' great team play - which of course includes the numerous assists by Luc Steins, who has created innumerable goal-scoring opportunities this campaign. The Dutch international is simply unstoppable this season and already has 42 assists to his name - making him the league's assists leader.
GREEN ON TOP
Les Rouge et Bleus' good results would be nothing without a solid defence, and the Parisians can count on the quiet strength of Jannick Green, who has been imperious at the start of the season. After eight games, the Danish keeper has the best save percentage in the Liqui Moly Starligue, with 37.13% of attempts saved.

A TEAM AT THE SERVICE OF... THE TEAM
In addition to individual strengths, Paris relies above all on a great collective spirit that enables the capital club to play all its matches to the full. Les Rouge et Bleu hold the record for the most goals scored and the largest margin of victory in a single match (+15), thanks in no small part to their comprehensive victory over Saran Liqui Moly Starligue Round 7. With 42 goals scored in the Coupe de France round of 16 against Frontignan (38-42), the capital club also hold the record for the biggest score this season.
