Kamil Syprzak: 'We respect everyone'

Paris Saint-Germain Handball and Kamil Syprzak play host to Nancy, Sunday afternoon, Liqui Moly StarLigue Rond 12 action. Head of throw-off, check out the second part of our interview with Les Rouge et Bleus' Polish pivot of Les Rouge et Bleu.

Last week, you won away to a strong Limoges team (30-33). Did this game prove that there are no easy games in the Liqui Moly StarLigue?

"Yes, it was difficult, but we knew it would be. The arena was full, so Limoges were spurred on by their fans. They had beaten Nantes, who are a very good team. They put in a lot of intensity! We didn't have much time to prepare for the game, especially after two consecutive away fixtures. We were also up against an excellent goalkeeper, who made it difficult for us."

Do you also need to be wary of Nancy, on Sunday?

"Of course! I know that the Liqui Moly StarLigue is a very tough league. All our opponents want to beat us. We have to be at 100%. We have to prepare for every game in the same way, saying that we face the best team in the world every time. We respect everyone. That's the best way to have a positive result after 60 minutes."

In your opinion, has the league title already been decided?

"No, we have to keep working. It's not usual to be so far ahead, but we mustn't think about it. We will take it one game at a time. Our team is coming together more and more, so we have to continue on this path."

You recently extended your contract with Paris. How did that feel?

"It was a very important moment in my career. I am happy to continue with Paris. It's glorious to know that a club like this wants to continue the adventure with me. I am very happy to continue the work I started two years ago. We want to win the EHF Champions League, so I'm happy to stay."

You're in great shape right now (Kamil just broke his record for goals in a single game against Saint-Raphaël with a 10 from 10). How do you feel?

"I feel great! My teammates understand my game better and pick me out very well. When I am on the court, I try to help the team. I'm happy, but while individual statistics are nice, they're not the most important thing. I don't think about it really... I'm focused on the next one and I want to continue on this path."

How's life in Paris?

"I don't waste my free time! I'm like that... I don't stay at home. With my wife, we like to go out and walk in the city. We want to enjoy Paris, because there are many things to do!"

You've also made a lot of progress in French...

"I'm glad I can communicate in French. I was afraid when I arrived, because the first year was difficult. It took me longer to learn French than Spanish. I took advantage of the lockdown to drill down on the language skills a bit. So now my wife and I speak pretty well.
