Jannick Green: 'The league is very competitive'

A new arrival at Paris Saint-Germain Handball this summer, Jannick Green spoke to us about the Liqui Moly StarLigue. He also talked about Montpellier, whom Les Rouge et Bleu will face on Saturday evening in their Round 14 clash.

What did you think of your recent games in the league, and especially the one against Cesson-Rennes?

"Against Cesson-Rennes, it was complicated... They played very well. They played very well. We didn't play our best game. But the most important thing is to continue to win and to remain leaders. We are happy and we want to stay in this position until the end of the season. It's very good for the team."

What do you think of the Liqui Moly StarLigue?

"It's very competitive! It's a different kind of handball compared to Germany or Denmark. The atmosphere in the arenas is very good. There are many exceptional players! It is without doubt one of the best leagues in the world, along with the Bundesliga, which is also very strong. I'm pleasantly surprised at how many good opponents you can play in the course of the season."

On Saturday you play against co-leaders Montpellier. For you, is this the most important game of the season?

"The games against Nantes and Montpellier will obviously be important. But if we don't win the other games, it will be useless to win those. MHB are a very good team, with a nice venue!"

Next, you face Nantes. What do you think of this end-of-year run-in?

"It's crazy! Nantes are also a very good team. They play really well in the EHF Champions League. It's a tough schedule. But these are the kind of games we like to play."

You arrived in Paris this summer. How do you feel here?

"Very good! My family and I are very happy here. Everyone has welcomed us very warmly. We feel good, both in the club and in the city. The atmosphere in the group is very good. We have fun, but we also work really hard. Our warm-ups, especially the ones where we play football, are very intense [laughs]."

By the way, we can see that you have a good level in football!

"Many players play well! I played for a few years. People think I'm good, but in reality I'm not [laughs]."
