In style!

On Sunday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball returned to Velux EHF Champions League action against Celje at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin. The Rouge and Bleu controlled the match from beginning to end to claim a comfortable Round 2 win (33-21).

Several Parisians distinguished themselves in the opening 30 minutes. Among them, Sander Sagosen stood out with his clinical finishing and hit the Slovenian defence hard early on the piece (9': 7-4). Meanwhile, our back-line did extremely well, and when they did let something through, 'keeper Rodrigo Corrales was on hand to clean up (14': 8-5). The last bastion of Paris' defence won several duels and shut the visitors out for several long minutes (19': 11-7), while up front, Mikkel Hansen and Nedim Remili combined to devastating effect, our left- and right-backs scoring seven quick goals between them to put the Rouge et Bleu clearly in front at the break (17-12).

As the second half began, it was Luc Abalo who took charge of thrilling the fans at Coubertin. Be it from the pivot position or from the right wing, the France international's aim was true (32': 19-12). While the match became a more balanced affair in the moments that followed, Raul Gonzalez's men hung onto their solid lead (45': 24-18), before accelerating in the final stages and widening the gap (51': 29-21). Paris' lead blew out to ten goals when Lucio pulled off yet a chabala (54': 31-21) and the match ended with more fine work from Rodrigo (17 saves) as the capital club claimed another deserved European win (33-21).

Paris Saint-Germain Handball's stylish win came as they took an early lead and left Celje no opportunity to catch them. The Rouge and Bleu have taken all four points on offer from their two Velux EHF Champions League fixtures so far this campaign.
