Iceland spring upset

Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson and his team-mates caused a sensation yesterday by beating Mikkel Hansen's Denmark (30-31)

Denmark - Iceland: 30-31
Like the French team, Denmark had a difficult start to the tournament. Against Iceland, the Danes were neck and neck for 60 minutes, but Mikkel Hansen's nine goals were not enough to clinch it. It was Mikki's fellow Parisian Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson (four goals) who scored the winner late in the piece, just before 2018 World Player of the Year Hansen missed a penalty that would have levelled it.

Denmark need to process this defeat before facing Hungary tomorrow in Malmo. Meanwhile, Iceland will face Russia.

Spain - Germany: 33-26
The reunion between our former right-winger Uwe Gensheimer and our two Spaniards went the way of the Iberians, who had the in-form Perez de Vargas shining in goal. Elected MVP of the game with 12 saves, the Barcelona 'keeper allowed his side to quickly take the lead in this clash.

With Spain having clinched two wins from two outings, Parisians Rodrigo Corrales and Viran Morros are sure to feature in the next round of the competition

The Parisians to watch today:
16:00: Switzerland - Poland
18:15: France - Norway
18:15: Sweden - Slovenia
