Henrik Toft Hansen: 'I want to win against my friends'

On Thursday evening, Paris Saint-Germain Handball host Flensburg in EHF Champions League Matchday 12 action. On this occasion, we talked with our Danish pivot, Henrik Toft Hansen.

On Thursday night, you face Flensburg in a decisive game...

Flensburg are a very good team! All the players have prepared well for this game. It's always difficult against this team. That was the case in the first leg (27-27); We had to fight for 60 minutes.

Are you happy to be back at your old club?

Yes! I spent three seasons there. It was a very important period in my life. My family and I love this city very much. But during the game, I won't be thinking about that. Even though I have many friends there, I really want to win.

Do you still believe you can reach the top two places in the group (direct qualification for the quarter-finals)?

There are four teams fighting for these two places. The last matches will be very complicated, but I think it's possible.

How is this season going for you?

It's better than the last one, because this year we have spectators! It was a bit strange. Now we can count on our fans, be it in France or in the Champions League. Individually, I am satisfied. I play mainly in defence and I feel good there.

How do you feel in Paris?

Very happy. I'm playing for a club that has great ambitions. I'm the same: I want to win titles, and especially the Champions League.

You finished third at the Euros with Denmark. How do you assess your performance?

It was difficult... Because of Covid, we couldn't know which opposing players we would face. The semi-final against Spain was complicated. They are a very good team and this time we lost. I would prefer to have made it to the final, but I'm happy to have finished with a medal.
