Group B results - Matchday 9

Paris Saint-Germain Handball defeated Kielce on Thursday night (32-27) to move closer to top spot in the EHF Champions League Group B. Check out the rest of the group's results...

Zaporozhye - Flensburg: 31-22
On Wednesday evening, Flensburg were looking to continue their three-match win streak away to Zaporozhye but, unfortunately for the Germans, they couldn't make it four in a row. After a balanced first period (30': 15-14), the Ukrainians hit their stride in the second half and doubled their opponents' scoring 16-8 to run out nine-goal winners. These two points allow Zaporohzye to move up to fifth with a one-point lead over their opponents on the night.

Barcelona - Porto: 38-31
Meanwhile, Barcelona had to get back on track after three games without a win. In their Palau Blaugrana, which is no longer a fortress after Kielce won there a month ago, the Catalans found something to smile about as they played host to Porto. Despite a draw in first leg (33-33), it was no contest this time and the Spaniards, well led by Aleix Gomez and his 12 from 14, had already made the difference at the break (30': 20-13). The trend was confirmed in the second half. Before going to Coubertin next week, FCB have 11 points (like Les Rouge et Bleu), while for Porto, qualification looks to be slipping out of their grasp (two points behind Flensbourg).

Veszprém - Dinamo Bucharest: 47-32
Beaten in Bucharest at the end of October (31-29), Veszprém had their hearts set on revenge. Mission accomplished! The Hungarians were never in danger and they beat the Romanian 'keeper no fewer than 47 times! With the exception of Adrian Sipos, all their outfield players found the net, with Fathy Omar firing 8 from 9. They scored from 81% of their shots, compared to 62% for Dinamo. Veszprém are now second with a one-point lead over Paris and Barcelona, while Bucharest remain in bottom place with four points.
