Group A results - Matchday 8

On Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain Handball won against Porto (29-28) and climbed to the upper reaches of EHF Champions League Group A. Two other matches took place in this group on the 8th day - check out what went down.

Szeged - Elverum: 36-27
Szeged, who had a rough first half (30': 17-15), managed to get their first win of the European campaign the fourth time of asking. However, Luc Abalo and his partners had decided not to make things easy for the Hungarians and only conceded the first leveller of the match shortly before the break. In the last 30 minutes, however, it was a bridge too far for the Norwegians, who couldn't stop the in-form Richard Bodo. The 27-year-old left-back found the net nine times from ten attempts. Szeged move up to seventh place, leap-frogging their opponent on the night.

Kielce - Vardar Skopje: 36-29
Almost the same score, but not at all the same scenario for Kielce; the group leaders were in total control against the reigning European Champions. After the first quarter of an hour (14': 9-9), the Poles hit the gas and never let up. It was especially in their finishing that they made the difference, scoring with an incredible 80% of their shots. Four of their players finished the match with 100% shooting, notably Arkadiusz Moryto, who fired 7 from 7. The defeat leaves Vardar - just one point ahead of Szeged and having played match more - in danger of slipping into the drop zone).
