Group A results - Matchday 4

Paris Saint-Germain Handball have been in sole control of Velux EHF Champions League Group A since their victory against Celje (27-18) on Sunday afternoon. Discover the rest of the Matchday 4 results.

Flensburg - Zagreb: 20-17
Just like the match between Les Rouge et Bleu and the Slovenians, it took several long minutes for the goals to arrive in Flensburg, where the home team faced Zagreb on Wednesday. Five minutes in, a David Mandic strike for the Croatians finally found the back of the net and it was the visitors who started the match better (24': 6-10). But Zagreb's opening points of the campaign would not be so easy to come by and the final stages of the match proved fatal to their ambitions. The Germans are one length behind the capital club, sitting on seven points while Zagreb remain in last place along with Celje and Elverum.

Barcelona - Elverum: 33-24
The Norwegians of Elverum also failed to bag their first points of the season. After losing their first three matches, they did their utmost to turn things around with a strong performance at the Palau Blaugrana in Barcelona. At half-time, they were still in the match (30': 15-12), but Barcelona's experience and efficiency made the difference. In particular, Croatiancentre-half Luka Cindric, who scored from all of his seven attempts, responding perfectly to Sebastian Henneberg's seven goals from 11 shots for the Norwegians. Thanks to a very good second half, Frenchmen Dika Mem, Ludovic Fabregas, Cédric Sorhaindo and Timothey N'Guessan all pocketed their third success of their European campaign.

Aalborg - Szeged: 28-35
Finally, Group A co-leaders Aalborg were looking to continue their winning streak, at home to Szeged. Unfortunately for the Danish side, their positive dynamic scame to an abrupt halt on Sunday afternoon. In this duel of former Parisians, which pitted Henrik Mollgaard (top scorer for his team with seven goals) against Luka Stepancic, it was the Croatian who came out on top. The Hungarians owe this victory in particular to Bogdan Radivojevic's 8 from 8 and the eleven goals scored by pivot Bence Banhidi. Szeged, with five points, remain in fifth place, but drew to within a point of their opponents on the day.
