Group A results

The group phase of the EHF Champions League is now over! Paris Saint-Germain Handball finished with a win against Veszprém (37-35) and thus remained atop Group A. Check out the rest fete group's - results and the consequences.

GOG - ZAGREB: 33-29

Zagreb had the opportunity to punch their ticket for the last 16 on Wednesday. To do so, they had to win to a GOG side already assured of a place in the next round. Unfortunately for them, the Croatians never managed to take the game to their hosts and were well behind at the break (30': 20-12). Despite a much better second half, the gap was too big and they conceded another defeat. While the Danes secured their fourth place, Zagreb had to wait for the game in Plock, 24 hours later, to know what their future would hold.

PORTO-PLOCK: 27-28

What suspense! The last ticket to the round of 16 was up for grabs right up until the last moments of the group stage. The Poles knew that a win would see them overtake Zagreb and qualify. But, although Porto had already been eliminated, the Portuguese side was not about to give Plock an easy time of it and it wasn't until very late in the game that the outcome was clear. When Krzysztof Komarzwski gave Plock a two-goal lead with ten seconds remaining, qualification was in the bag. The Poles therefore move on to the next round, while Porto finished at the bottom of the table.

MAGDEBURG - BUCHAREST: 34-33

It was a game without any real stakes that was played on Thursday evening. With the defeat of Veszprém in Coubertin, Magedburg were already sure of finishing second and qualifying directly for the quarters. Bucharest, on the other hand, had a chance to take fourth place, given their goal difference advantage over GOG. After a long struggle, it was the Germans who finally made the difference in the last moments , ending their excellent group stage campaign on a positive note. The Romanians finished in fifth and could be drawn against Paris Saint-Germain Handball in the quarter-finals (if they can beat Kiel on the round of 16).
