Five things on Chambéry - PSG Handball

1 - The table
Both teams will be eager to take all three points in this clash: the Savoyards, first of all, have the opportunity to pass Toulouse and move up to sixth place, on 29 points. This is a great opportunity for a side that has not been able to show consistency this season, as evidenced by their eleven wins and ten losses (and five draws). They are on a run of four games without a win (against Nantes, Montpellier, Aix and Saint-Raphael). For their part, Les Rouge et Bleu can take a four-point lead - still with a match in hand - over nearest rivals Montpellier.

2 - Key figures
In spite of their inconsistent form, Chambéry have several reliably strong individuals, and among them is Swiss goalkeeper Nikola Portner. The former MHB 'keeper, who arrived at Chambéry last summer, has been put to good use this year and has not disappointed! He currently sits second on the Lidl Starligue saves chart with no fewer than 246 stops this season! Only the Ivry's Mate Sunjic, with 272, has out-performed him. In attack, it's youngster Benjamin Richert who is impressing the most. Although his record for goals in a match - 19 - was set in 2019-20, he has amassed 152 this season to sit third on the Lidl StarLigue scorers chart.

3 - Key stats
It is collectively that things are more complicated for CSH, who have a negative goal difference after scoring 704 goals and conceding 722 (-18). Indeed, to find a second Savoyard player on the scorers chart, we have to go all the way down to 37th place, where we find Jean-Loup Faustin and his 78 strikes (less than half than his partner). Between the two Chambérians, there are four Parisians: Kamil Syprzak (84 goals), Elohim Prandi (91), Mikkel Hansen (108) and Nedilm Remili (114). This gives the capital club the best attack in the league with 861 units in 25 matches (average of 34 per game) and the second-best defense with 646 goals conceded (average of 25).

4 - Head to head
This will be the 31st time that Chambéry and Paris have faced each other in the championship. For some time, the record has been favourable for our team, with 18 wins (including six at Le Phare), for eleven defeats and one draw. Les Rouge et Bleus' last defeat came in the 2014-2015 season. At that time, they lost narrowly (33-32) after being struggling to get past Yann Genty (18 saves), who is now a Parisian. At the beginning of April, the two teams faced off in Round 21 action at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin. Our players were comfortable winners (34-23), with Kamil top scoring with six goals.
