End of the Olympic road for our Parisians

The France team featuring the Karabatic brothers and Elohim went down 35-34 to Germany in the quarter-finals. Omar Yahia's Egypt and Andreas Palicka's Sweden were also eliminated.

LES BLEUS KNOCKED OUT IN THE FINAL MINUTES

All three Paris Saint Germain players - Nikola Karabatic, Luka Karabatic and Elohim Prandi (4 goals) - played a part in Les Bleus' match against Germany. Although the French led 14-17 after the first half, the second part of the match became more complicated. The Germans levelled it in the dying seconds after a French player lost the ball.

Then, in extra time, Germany coach Alfred Gislason's side won the match by a single goal.

THE LAST MATCH FOR A LEGEND

Although Nikola Karabatic played his last match for Paris Saint-Germain on 31 May, Wednesday was his last game for the French national team. Our now ex-left-back was very grateful for the presence of the French crowd for his last appearance.

OMAR YAHIA AND ANDREAS PALICKA ALSO ELIMINATED

Like France, Omar Yahia's Egypt were eliminated in extra time against Spain, 29-28. Despite a successful 12-8 first half for Egypt, the Spaniards managed to pull off the win in extra time.

The same fate befell Andreas Palicka's Sweden (despite ten saves from our ‘keeper), who were knocked out by former Olympic champions Denmark 32-31.
