David Balaguer: 'I've won everything in France, but I still want more'

Ahead of Tuesday evening's Liqui Moly StarLigue final between Aix and Paris Saint-Germain Handball, David Balaguer had his say. The Spanish right-winger talks about the French title and the Final4 of the EHF Champions League.

What did you think of the match against Nantes (35-32)?

"It was like a final! Both teams were up to the task and it was very close. But we managed to be more decisive in money-time and I think we got a deserved win."

Did you expect that kind of game?

"Yes, there was a lot of stress and pressure. We knew it would come down to details. But we never panicked, despite the fine performance of their 'keeper. It was thanks to our composure that we were able to make the difference. This title is the reward for all the hard work we've put in this season."

You had a chance to play in front of a superb crowd. What do you think of your supporters?

"The atmosphere was incredible! You need everyone in a match like this. This season, I've felt really good right from the start at Coubertin. Everyone has been kind and patient with me."

This was the last title that had not previously won in France. So how does it feel?

"I was able to tick the title box too! I've won everything in France and I'm very happy about that. But that doesn't stop me wanting more and to keep winning more."

On Tuesday, you take on Aix. Despite having already won the title, you're not going to take this game lightly are you?

"No, we need to play at our best. We need to keep up our work ethic. That's how we'll get to the Final4 of the EHF Champions League in good shape."

What exactly does a Final4 represent?

"I'll be playing in my fifth Final4. It's a dream to go there again. Last time, I lost in the semi-final with Nantes and the hall was empty. This time it'll be full. The opponents will be tough, but we're highly motivated."
