Coupe de France: Round of 16 results

Paris Saint-Germain handball qualified for the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France by beating Saran 36-32 on Wednesday. Find out all the results of the round of 16 and the capital club's potential opponents in the next round, which takes place between 7 and 9 February 2025.

Nantes solid ahead of Paris clash, Montpellier take derby by storm

While Sunday's eagerly awaited clash between Nantes and Paris will be a massive spectacle at La Halle XXL, Nantes put on a real show when they travelled to Istres. Despite being pushed to the limit by a Provençal side who gave it their all right up until the end, the two-time title holders lived up to their status as favourites and booked their place in the quarter-finals (39-44). The same goes for Montpellier, who, after a hard-fought first half (12-12), upped the tempo in the derby against Nîmes. Helpless despite the support of the Parnasse, USAM eventually succumbed to the pace imposed by Erick Mathé's men (22-28).

Dunkerque spring the upset, the last remaining Proligue side crashes out

After a splendid battle between the two teams, Dunkerque emerged victorious over Toulouse in front of their home crowd. Trailing at half-time, Les Nordistes showed great skill to snatch a draw and send Fenix crashing out on penalties (37-36). In addition to Saran, two other Proligue sides were in the last 16. Against Limoges, Angers turned in a worthy performance and can now look back with great regret. Ahead at half-time (14-11), the second division's bottom side were caught out by the experience of the freshly minted European representatives (29-31). It was the opposite story for Dijon, who came close to an historic comeback against Saint-Raphaël. Trailing by eight goals at the break (13-21), the Dijonnais came back from the dressing room with an extra spark that carried them through the second half, but they eventually fell two goals short of the Provençal side (32-34).

Chambéry and Aix back in the quarter-finals

After missing out on the Coupe de France quarter-finals in 2021 and 2022 respectively, Chambéry and Aix will be back in action in February. The two top-flight denizens showed no fear in front of their home fans despite facing two tough opponents. The Savoyards got off to a flying start (8-0) and were never really troubled by Chartres (31-27) and it was a similar story for PAUC, who made the difference in the first half to see off promoted Tremblay (30-24).

Les Rouge et Bleu will find out their opponent on Tuesday 17 December when the draw is held at the Maison du Handball and broadcast live from 13:15 on HandballTV.
