Champions League: Paris' key stats

3: After 2015-2016 and 2017-2018, this year was Paris' third time in the Velux EHF Champions League Final4. It was the second time in three years that they finished in third place (after 2017).

4: The Rouge et Bleu really made a mark on the competition this season. Four of our players were honoured by the EHF for their excellent performances: Nikola Karabatic, Uwe Gensheimer and Sander Sagosen were named in the Final4's Best 7 while Luka Karabatic was named Best Defender in the tournament.

8: Zvonimir Serdarusic's men claimed several excellent wins in their Champions League campaign. The standout was their triumph in Flensburg in February which, as well as assuring them of top spot in Group B, was their largest win in the competition this season (29-21).

9: The capital club set a new Champions League record by claiming nine consecutive wins between 8 October 2017 and February 17 2018.

10: The competitions top scorer (see below), Uwe Gensheimer did plenty of damage to opposing defences. Aalborg (31-28) and Veszprém (24-29) were his main victims, the Germany captain scoring ten goals against each of them.

14: The Parisians strung together the wins this season. In 18 European outings, they were the sole side to claim 14 wins. A fine total along with three defeats and one draw.

22: While the Rouge et Bleu often shone in attack, they also proved solid at the back. In fact, they pulled off a stunning performance to concede just 22 goals at Kiel's Sparkassen Arena (22-25) - their best defensive performance of the season!

24: One of the revelations of Paris Saint-Germain Handball's European campaign was Rodrigo Corrales. A European Champion with Spain in January, our last rampart was on fire in the Champions League, notably pulling off 24 saves against Flensburg at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin (52% save rate).

92: And as for goal scorers, you can't go past Uwe Gensheimer. The EHF certainly didn't - they honoured him with the award for the competition's top scorer (92 goals) on Sunday afternoon. It was a second such award in as many seasons for the German international (who succeeded Mikkel Hansen).

139: It has been common knowledge for the last decade: Nikola Karabatic can do everything. However, chief among this great champions' qualities is power, which he used to awesome effect in the Final4, against Vardar Skopje (29-28), unleashing a 139 km/h shot- the fastest seen in the entire tournament!

550: Given Paris' attacking assets, it was no surprise to see that they score a lot of goals. In total, 550 goals were scored by our lads in the competition this season - even though they played two matches fewer than many other teams (topping Group B saw them skip the round of 16).
