All you need to know before the draw

At 18:00 on Wednesday, the draw for the group phase of the 2020-21 Velux EHF Champions League season will take place. For this edition of the competition, new rules will be applied.

The competition will start in mid-September, with a first change compared to other years: European matches will no longer take place on weekends, but rather during the week - on Wednesdays and Thursdays (at 18:45 or 20:45).

It should also be noted that the 'lower' group have been removed. Only 16 teams, divided into two groups, will take part in this first round - these are the matches that will take place on Wednesday evenings.

All participating teams have been divided into four pots, with four teams in each pot. Two teams per pot will appear in each group, with a caveat against two clubs from the same country competing in the same group. Check out Paris Saint-Germain Handball's potential opponents below.

At the end of the group stage, the two top teams from each group will qualify directly for the quarter-finals of the competition. The others will go through to the play-offs.

The Final4 system remains unchanged and will take place over two days (12 and 13 June 2021). Finally, a new trophy (identical for the men's and women's sections) will be unveiled at the draw. You can follow it via the EHF social networks from 18:00 CET.
