All you need to know about PSG Handball - Nancy

On Sunday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball play host to Nancy in their Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 12 clash at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin.

The table
It is a clash of extremes that lies in store! Indeed, Les Rouge et Bleu dominate the table, their 11 victories from as many games garnering them a five-point lead over nearest rivals Nantes.

Meanwhile things for the side from the Lorraine region are somewhat tougher. Promoted to the top flight of French handball this summer, they are currently propping up the table. Nonetheless, they are only two points behind Saran in 14th and have already won two games (in Toulouse, 22-24 and against Cesson-Rennes, 27-25).

Duel of stats
The gulf between the sides is reflected in their stats. First of all, defensively, the Parisians have the fourth-best rearguard in the championship, with 304 goals concede (thanks to Vincent GΓ©rard's 81 saves). Nancy are 14th, with 334 goals conceded (despite 67 saves from Obrad Ivezic).

Offensively, the capital club dominates the division with 409 goals, 70 strikes ahead of second place! Mikkel Hansen (54 goals), Kamil Syprzak (47) and Elohim Prandi (45) are particularly skillful in this sector. Here too GNMHB are 14th, with 294 goals. Their top scorer is none other than the Icelandic center-half, Elvar Asgeirsson, who has scored 40 times since the beginning of the season.

Top-flight debut
Founded in 1942, Nancy are playing in the Liqui Moly StarLigue for the first time. Benjamin Braux's men won their ticket to the first division last season, after a very good year in the Proligue. They claimed victory in the play-offs semi-final against Pontault-Combault (25-26) - which punched their ticket for the top flight - before losing the next day against the other promoted team, Saran, 36-31, for the title of Prologue Champions.

For the very first time
This will be the first time that the two teams have face each other in this championship. However, they have already faced each other several times in the cups. This was the case in December 2015, when Paris claimed victory at the Palais des Sports Jean-Weille, in a Coupe de France round of 16 tie (23-36). It was also the case two years later, in the same round of the same competition, with Paris notching another win (27-39).
