All you need to know about PSG Handball - Cesson-Rennes

A few days after their draw in Flensburg (27-27), Paris Saint-Germain Handball are already getting set to return to action! On Saturday afternoon, they play host to in-form Cesson-Rennes at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 4 action.

Paris perfect
Les Rouge et Bleu's season is off to a good start, with three wins from as many games. They therefore sit atop the table, alongside Nîmes, who have also won their three games.

Cesson off to a good start
Cesson-Rennes, who barely escaped relegation last season, are off to a strong start in the new campaign. The Bretons currently have two wins - including one against Nantes (29-27) - and one defeat. With four points, they are currently in the top five.

Paris facing its former charges
The transfer window was a busy one in Cesson this summer! To make up for the departure of several players (Igor Anic, Mathieu Salou, Jordan Camarero, Allan Villeminot and Rok Zaponsek), Les Irréductibles strengthened their squad with eight new arrivals, including Théophile Caussé and Robin Molinié. But two former students of our youth academy have also joined the Les Rouge et Rose: Ludwig Appolinaire, who played six matches and scored one goal for Paris between 2012 and 2016 (in the meantime he played for Pontault-Combault). The second is none other than Louis Despreaux. The 22-year-old right-back made a lot of noise in the Nationale 1, as a member of Thierry Perreux's squad last year.

Baznik on the ball
A good start to the season is not possible without a good 'keeper and our future opponents have an excellent one in the person of Joie Baznik. The 28-year-old Slovenian goalkeeper is the league's second-most successful goalkeeper with 37 saves (including 14 and 16 against Nantes and Saran respectively).

Les Rouge et Bleu on the attack
Boasting the league's best attack for the last several seasons, Paris are off to a good start once again in the goalscoring sector! They are already the top scoring team, with 113 goals in three appearances (37 per game). This puts them 18 goals ahead of second-placed Aix. Mikkel Hansen, scorer of 11 goals of Paris's goals in Créteil (32-36) is our top scorer with 17. For the Bretons, it is Robin Molinié (20 goals).

Head to head
Cesson-Rennes and Paris are facing each other for the 21st time in the league. Paris Saint-Germain Handball have so far won 16 times, drawn once and lost three times to these opponents. Les Rouge et Bleu were crowned champions last season on the Bretons' home ground.
