Born in Bavaria in Germany, the man who has coached Paris Saint-Germain since the 2018-19 season had his own playing career cut short because of a knee injury.
In 2000, he took over the VfB Stuttgart U19 team before becoming FC Augsburg’s U19 manager, then Mainz U19 coach from 2008 to 2009. Tuchel then took charge of the Mainz first team for five seasons.
It quickly became clear that Thomas had a distinctive management style and he was chosen to take over from Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund in 2015, where he went on to win the German Cup.
Three years later he joined Paris Saint-Germain and became a two-time Ligue 1 champion, also winning the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue in 2020. He’s also lifted the Champions Trophy on two occasions. In addition, Tuchel led the capital club to the first Champions League final in their history.
