What's at stake for the Parisians in 2022?

After the festive season, the Parisians returned to the training ground at the Ooredoo Centre this Saturday, January 1, 2022, with their first match on Monday in mind. Here is an overview of what awaits our Rouge et Bleu in this new year.

A first training session for the Parisians! Mauricio Pochettino, his staff and his players met at the Ooredoo Centre on January 1st - without the South Americans, who will only resume on Sunday January 2nd - to kick off the rest of the season.

The first match is in Vannes on Monday evening at 21:10, in the last 16 of the Coupe de France. This is a match that comes fast after the break, leaving little room for complacency. The Parisian coach will appear in a press conference on PSG TV live this Sunday 2 January from 13:00, with the first 15 minutes of the session at 15:00, also live on digital platforms.

On 9 January, they return to league action with a trip to Lyon, in what is always a very close game in Ligue 1, before hosting Brest at the Parc des Princes on Saturday 15 January at 21:00. After that, the players will head to Doha for the Qatar Tour 2022 (more info to come), with a return to Paris scheduled for the following Thursday.

The month of February sees the return of European football! In addition to the clashes against Rennes and Lille, Paris will host Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, with the return leg scheduled for 9 March (the first knockout stage without the away goals rule...). The first Classique of the calendar year (the second of the season) will be played at the Parc des Princes on Sunday 17 April at 20:45, and the Ligue 1 season will end with the game against Metz, again at the Parc des Princes, on the weekend of 21 and 22 May.

The Coupe de France final will be played on 8 May 2022 at the Stade de France, while the Champions League final is scheduled for 28 May 2022 at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg.

Finally, this new year will be marked by the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup. The first matchday of the 2022-2023 Ligue 1 season will take place on the weekend of 6 and 7 August 2022. Matchday 15, scheduled for the weekend of 12 and 13 November 2022, will be the last matchday before the start of the international break for the 2022 World Cup. Exceptionally, the league will resume on Wednesday 28 December 2022 (Matchday 16) in the form of a French boxing day.

A year that guarantees plenty of thrills and chills!
