Vitinha, the rough diamond
New Paris Saint-Germain Vitinha is the first signing of the new season. Joins us as we take a closer look at this talented midfielder.
A PRECOCIOUS talentÂ
VĂtor Machado Ferreira, to give you his full name, cut his teeth in Portugal, and more precisely at FC Porto, with whom he won two Portuguese League and Cup doubles in 2020 and again in 2022, either side of a spell in the English Premier League with Wolverhampton. Vitinha already has tasted a first overseas experience, in a team with many of his compatriots in its ranks, something that will be repeated here, in Paris...
A winner of the Youth League in 2019, and a finalist in the UEFA Euro U21 last summer, the Capital Club's newest midfielder also knows (already) how to shine on the international stage. His experience, at just 22 years of age, will be welcome in this ambitious Paris Saint-Germain squad.
Vitinha in the engine room
On the pitch, Vitinha is already catching the eye. Involved in the technical and tactical construction of his teams' attacks, he is a launching pad, always skilful and technically proficient. Last season, he played 47 matches, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists in all competitions, and he boasted the second highest number of passes leading to a shot (35).
He is also gifted without the ball... His sense of positioning and his ability to carry out intensive pressing make him capable of varying his game according to the needs of a match, or even of a season. An easy adaptation, convincing results and a great technique: so many signs thqt he is reqdy to pull on the Red and Blue colours.
As mentioned above, he will be reunited with two compatriots at Paris Saint-Germain, Danilo Pereira, whom he played with at FC Porto, and Nuno Mendes, whom he has played alongside in the national team, since Vitinha is also a Portugal international (3 caps).
A diamond in the rough that only needs polishing, to the delight of Paris fans.
