Valdo impressed by the Luis Enrique method

The illustrious and highly experienced Valdo, who made a guest appearance on our pre-match programme on Saturday night, gave his take on Luis Enrique’s methods.

Having been a Parc des Princes icon two decades ago, Valdo continues to keep a watchful eye on events at Paris Saint-Germain to this day. As a guest on the capital club's show ahead of the game against Le Havre, the former midfielder reminisced about the "joy of wearing the [Paris Saint-Germain] shirt" and about his "love for the Parc des Princes", whilst also taking the opportunity not only to show that his attachment to his former club was still very much intact but also to decipher "the Luis Enrique method".

Now working his magic as a coach, Valdo discussed the Paris Saint-Germain boss's man management: "That's the hardest thing for a coach, and Luis Enrique is doing it wonderfully. In terms of the squad, he's making himself very popular with his players because he makes everyone feel valued, bearing in mind that they'll all get onto the pitch sooner or later. Managing your squad is really important; it isn't easy, but that's the best way of doing it."

That all-encompassing competitive spirit is arguably what is behind Les Parisiens' incredible unbeaten run in the league. With a squad capable of taking each competition as it comes, Paris Saint-Germain can tackle their hectic schedule head-on, with Les Rouge et Bleu having avoided defeat domestically since the turn of the calendar year.

"Paris Saint-Germain are very strong thanks to how the coach has handled things," praised Valdo as he admired the career path of the newly crowned Ligue 1 title winner. "They really are solid. As a player, Luis Enrique virtually won it all, and as a manager, he has won it all!"

It was with optimism that the 1993–1994 French league champion looked ahead to the final few games of what has been a thrilling season for the capital club. "I'm a coach myself, and I think that the most important thing is to make everyone feel valued. When the senior players haven't been there, everyone else has been ready, and Paris Saint-Germain will be very strong," repeated the Brazilian legend – a hope that will be shared by the rest of Les Rouge et Bleu's fans.
