Everything you need to know about the UEFA Champions League group stage draw

The draw for the UEFA Champions League group stage will take place this Thursday 25 August at 18:00 in Istanbul, Turkey. You can follow the event live on PSG TV, YouTube and Twitch.

rules:

- The draw involves 32 teams: the 26 who qualified directly for the group stage, plus the six winners of the play-offs.

- The teams are divided into four pots. Pot 1 includes the defending champions, the UEFA Europa League winner and the top six ranked national champions who did not qualify via one of the 2021-2022 continental titles, including Paris Saint-Germain. Pots 2 to 4 will be determined by the ranking of the clubs' coefficients.

- In the case of federations having 2 representatives, the clubs are paired up in order to divide their matches between Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In the case of federations with 4 or more representatives, 2 pairings are made. These pairings shall be based on television ratings.

- No team can play against a team from its own federation. Paris Saint-Germain will therefore not be able to play Olympique de Marseille.
