Tuchel: 'It's very disappointing'

Find out what the Paris Saint-Germain camp had to say after heart-breaking penalty shootout loss to Rennes in the final of the Coupe de France on Saturday:

Thomas Tuchel (Paris Saint-Germain coach):
"We let Rennes back into the game, but I don’t know why. It’s very disappointing because we lost the second half 1-0. We didn’t show the right mentality to win this match. We really wanted to win this match and I think it was possible. We made a perfect start and we should have gone on with it, but we let them back into the game. Our intensity dropped, our rhythm dropped and then it was 2-1 and we didn’t show the right mentality. I am surprised but I can’t explain why."

Neymar Jr (Paris Saint-Germain forward):
"I feel really bad after that. Losing always feels bad, especially when it’s a final. Everyone is sad, but we know what we did. We should have shown more out there on the pitch. But there’s no point crying over spilt milk, it’s over now. I’m happy to have played today without pain. I think I played well, with a goal and an assist, but losing is a much more painful feeling."

Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain defender):
"We started well. We opened the scoring and then made it 2-0. Then it’s down to the little details. I think we started very well but then physically we struggled in the second half, we couldn’t close down the space, we lost our structure and they grew in confidence. But I also think we were the better team in the match, we had more chances to score, we controlled the ball well, we were dangerous and we scored twice and had other chances to score more. It’s a shame because a final is decided on the details. It’s another big disappointment for us, but we have to stay strong, we have to stay united. We are going to be criticised for this result, but we know what we need to work on and think about these final weeks of the season so that next season we can do much better. We all know how hard it is to take penalties. They have good penalty takers and did very well and we did too, but it’s not Christopher Nkunku’s fault. We should have done more during the match to avoid this situation but penalties are cruel, it’s just down to luck and it’s hard to lose a final like that."
