Tuchel: 'An excellent reaction!'
Thomas Tuchel, Thomas Meunier and Angel Di Maria spoke to PSG TV after the 2-2 UEFA Champions League draw with Napoli on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes.
Thomas Tuchel (Paris Saint-Germain coach)
"Scoring in the last minute means you could look at it as a point won. It was very important not to lose tonight at the Parc des Princes. Our first 15 minutes were very good, but then we lost our structure, our confidence and we started losing the ball very easily. At half-time, I told the players we had to play more simply, faster and with more discipline. We needed to improve. It was normal that they had opened the scoring, but their second goal was very frustrating. But we fought back a second time and that shows a good mentality. We have three matches left in the group and we want to win our head to head with Napoli first of all. It lasts 180 minutes and we have played 90. It's 2-2 and we have the chance to win it in two weeks. The players used up a lot of energy tonight and now we have to work on our recovery for the next two days before training on Saturday ahead of Sunday's match in Marseille. It's an important week and we need to be ready."
Thomas Meunier (Paris Saint-Germain defender)
"Napoli played the way they have been playing for the last few years, one or two touch, with lots of movement and intelligence. They are very dangerous. We stood off a little too much in the first half. After the break, we switched to three at the back, played more simply and I think if we'd played the whole match like that we would have won. We had a lot of chances, crosses, and we saw the real Paris Saint-Germain in the second half."
Angel Di Maria (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)
"We are happy to finished on a positive note. We could have lost, like we could have won. You have to fight to the very last second if you want to reach your objectives. The coach is there to make decisions and change the formation when needed, and that's what he did at half-time. We saw that it was easier, we had more presence on the flanks and more space. The second half was excellent. We need to build on this second and keep improving."
