Thomas Tuchel: 'With confidence, passion and patience'

Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel gave his thoughts a day ahead of the crucial UEFA Champions League encounter with Liverpool.

TACTICAL APPROACH
"I can't talk to you about the system, of course. I'm still not sure if this will be a tactical match, but I think that against Liverpool it's important the players feel as comfortable as possible on the pitch. It's simply because you don't have time to think, you have to take decisions very quickly, Liverpool like to press high. We'll have to be very structured defensively."

NEYMAR JR AND KYLIAN MBAPPE
"Ney and Kylian are ready physically. They're in good shape. They had a full session today and yesterday, they'll start tomorrow."

KEYS TO THE MATCH
"The key will be to defend well against Liverpool's attacking trio, that's always difficult because they can change position. Firmino can play everywhere, he's fluid, able to change rhythm. They can also play in 4-4-2, but that doesn't change much in terms of their structure or their approach to the game. It's necessary for us to play with confidence and play attacking football and have the desire to win. The ball has to move around quickly, we have to take the right decisions quickly, and we have to limit the number of touches in our opponents' half."

PROGRESS
"We have improved since the first game. We've had time to get to know the team and how to get the best from the players. But it's a big challenge ahead of us, one of the best teams in Europe and last season's runners-up, but we're playing at home. I hope my players will play with confidence, passion and patience. We're ready, but I know we'll have to play our best."

THE PSYCHE
"Sometimes, you'd say it's more difficult for players to adapt psychologically than physically. There are some league matches in which we're not ready to play to our best level. There are always circumstances for that to happen, at Marseille, at Monaco...we know it's sometimes difficult to concentrate on those types of game. It's up to us to be ready mentally for this type of game, we want to prove it against Liverpool."

PRESSURE?
"I feel pressure, yes, but no fear. For the last few days, the pressure has been rising, but that's normal, it's normal for special games like this one. I felt the same thing before Napoli, Marseille, Lille or Lyon, they're special games. Tomorrow it'll be crucial for us, and I feel pressure, but it's inside me. It's something that's part of me and my job, I want to battle with my team and win with my team, it'll be a big challenge."
