Thomas Tuchel: 'We win as a team'

The Paris Saint-Germain coach faced the media ahead of Sunday's Ligue 1 game with Monaco.

SQUAD

"Everyone's here! It's a good feeling, but there are decisions to be made. We have 25 outfield players and four goalkeepers. It's good, because we need everyone. Everyone is available and wants to play. Abdou Diallo? He did a full session today, but we won't take any risks."

BACK-TO-BACK ENCOUNTERS

"It's the first time in my career that I'm playing the same team twice in three days. It's bizarre to play the second game before the first, and to meet the same team just three days apart. That's the situation, we're going to adapt. As for the team, we'll have the first game and then decide for the second. We're going to play Monaco, who have a new coach, twice, and we have just one game to analyse their way of playing. The team has changed structure, and we expect a 4-1-4-1 like Spain played. We're setting up the team for that. They're confident in their game, so it'll be a match of style against style. We'll see who gets the upper hand, but we're optimistic."

MONACO

"We have the opportunity to pick up six points, but we have a lot of respect for Monaco as they are very strong going forward. They always play with four or five forwards and a lot of quality. It's a big challenge for this first league game of the year. We're in a good spell, we've got a good spirit and quality. We want to win the game. I have the feeling we're more mature, more solid. We have progressed in terms of personality. The team has grown. Everyone is here, enjoying it, and there's a good spirit despite the competition for places, but we have to be careful to maintain our standards."

TACTICS

"We attack together and we defend together. A team effort is perhaps the best thing in football. If we play 4-4-2, there are a lot of things we can do together. Everyone has to do what's required. The players are doing that. Right now, we win as a team. Everyone does what's necessary."

MAURO ICARDI

"Honestly, I've very impressed with him. He's very reliable and very professional. He understands football at the top level, knows what the team has to do to be balanced. He's very effective and works defensively."
