Thomas Tuchel: 'We defended as a team'

Thomas Tuchel, Thiago Silva, Pablo Sarabia and Idrissa Gueye gave us their thoughts on Sunday's Coupe de France win over Lorient.

Thomas Tuchel (Paris Saint-Germain coach)
"It was difficult, but we won. It was tough on a difficult pitch, and that can happen in the cup. They're a second division team, but they can clearly play in Ligue 1. We were rigorous, we tried incessantly to look for space, to create chances, it wasn't easy. In a match like that, just one situation can be enough. After the first half, it became more difficult. We had to to protect ourselves from counter-attacks, but we managed to do that. We defended as a team."

Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain defender)
"It was a very difficult match, there was a lot of quality up against us. The pitch wasn't good for us, but they're used to playing here. And they played very compact defensively. They were in a 5-4-1, so it wasn't easy for us to find space, and even so we managed to create some situations. We're happy with our attitude. We were very thorough, particularly in the second half, and we deserved this result. Now we have to be able to keep going."

Pablo Sarabia (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)
"It was a very difficult match, but we did things well, with a lot of patience. We didn't manage to create as many chances as usual, but we kept going and in the end managed to break them down and score the goal that took us through. Lorient played every well this evening, they're a solid team that had the support of their fans...it wasn't easy at all, but we've qualified, that's what counts."

Idrissa Gueye (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)
"It was a potential banana skin, like often in the Coupe de France, but we didn't slip up and scored the goal that enabled us to win the game. Pablo's goal? It shows everyone is committed, and that we have the squad needed to be able to change things round. Pablo is an example to follow. Every time the coach calls on him, he does his utmost to help the team win."
