Thomas Tuchel: 'Looking forward to discovering the Parc'

The Paris Saint-Germain coach faced the media ahead of his first game at the Parc des Princes with his team facing Caen in their league opener on Sunday.

SQUAD
"Unfortunately, Marco Verratti and Layvin Kurzawa are injured. They haven't trained and they won't be in the team on Sunday. As for the players who started pre-season later than the others, we'll make a decision after Saturday morning's training session or even on Sunday morning. It's a difficult situation, I don't want to take any risks with them. They always want to play, even if they only started training a week ago. But I'm the coach, and I won't take any risks."

FIRST
"I'm looking forward to his match, my first at the Parc des Princes in front of our fans. I'm really looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere. It's time to start, and I'm very happy to be making my debut. I'm sure the team will give their all in this first game."

TROPHÉE DES CHAMPIONS
"There's nothing better in football than winning. That's the best treatment for a team. We're still in a difficult situation because some of them have only just come back and others have been working for five weeks. The players have to be patient. We won 4-0, I'm very happy, but we still have a lot to do in terms of intensity. We still have to improve, but we have just a little time. We have to use every minute of every training session and game. We still have a lot of work."

GIANLUIGI BUFFON
"It's easy with him. He's very professional...he's a legend! He behaves like that in the dressing-room. He's very humble, very polite, very professional. He has a lot of influence on our team. The goalkeepers? They all have the talent to be number one. I'll take a decision on Sunday."

MARCO VERRATTI
"He had an operation at the end of last season, and he had an up-and-down pre-season. He has trained very hard, but felt a twinge at times. We have to be careful. There's nothing worrying, but we have to take our time."

NEYMAR JR
"Neymar is my key player, that's clear. He's one of the best in the world, an artist, very creative. You mustn't put too much pressure on creative players. There are many ways to be a leader. Neymar is a leader when he's happy, when he can create and inspire others. Some get that from defending, in the structure, but that's not his job."

COLIN DAGBA AND STANLEY NSOKI
"They are nice surprises. Colin has played every game at a very high level. He's humble, and has also had some very high quality training sessions. As for Stanley, it's different because normally he plays centre-back. But he does things very well, with a good attitude in a new role. I'm not afraid of playing young players, but you also have to protect them. It's a big challenge to play for Paris Saint-Germain. Sixteen top calibre players can enable them to improve, but you have to protect them, do things slowly."
