Thomas Tuchel: 'It needs to be our new standard'

"We put in a good showing. We made a lot of changes and decided to push this team, to play with lots of intensity and to have no excuse in terms of fatigue. We couldn't lose concentration after the win over Manchester United. The team didn't lose its discipline, its energy or the control of the ball. We played a good match and deserved to win. It's not easy here in Montpellier, but it was good. The rotation? We used everybody, we really improved our game and we played two matches where everyone has ended the games tired. We have given everything physically and mentally, and that needs to be our new standard. That means that if we give our all, all of our energy and our quality, we are a strong team. We need to show it again on Tuesday."

"It was important to win, because we had a couple of poor performances in the league and we saw that the teams behind us were coming back. So we needed to win without fail. We put in a solid performance against a good team and we are proud to leave here with the three points. When I came on, the match was fast-paced, it was cold and so I needed to make sure that I warmed up well. But when I came on, I also extended the lead after a pass from Layvin, so we leave here with a big smile. My 100th goal? It's true that it's an incredible achievement, I have been thinking about it for the last couple of matches and that might be why I haven't scored, because I have overthought things. But I tried to focus on the team, to help my teammates as much as possible and they paid me back, because they set me up with this goal. I am very happy!"

"I felt good, in the same way as the team did. We had a good match defensively and we were good in attack. We respected the system that the coach set us up in, so he is happy and we are too. After the win on Wednesday, we needed to win today in order to prepare in the best way possible for the match on Tuesday. Given that the team is consistent, the coach has to switch things around, but the players that are being rotated also need to show that they can put in a good performance."

"It was important to continue with this win today. We dominated the match, although it took us some time to put it to bed with the two goals at the end of the match, but it was important to win dynamically. My first goal? It's a huge source of pride and it got things going in the match, so it adds a little extra something to this win."
