Thomas Tuchel: 'Important for us'

Thomas Tuchel, Presnel Kimpembe, Pablo Sarabia and Kylian Mbappé looked back on their side's 4-1 victory over Monaco on Wednesday 15 January at the Stade Louis II (game in hand from Week 15 of Ligue 1).

Thomas Tuchel (Paris Saint-Germain coach)
"Winning was very important for us after the draw at the Parc - a difficult encounter. We needed to make a few adjustments and show that we were capable of beating this team. It was the time to do so and the team proved it. We remained very focused and deserved the win. I am therefore happy. We didn't come up against the same counters as on Sunday, because we protected and pressed better. It was needed in order to improve. We did it, it's very good."

Presnel Kimpembe (Paris Saint-Germain defender)
"This match was important for us because we are competitors and avenging. It was therefore important for us to come back with the three points. After more than a month out, getting back onto the pitch was good for me. I got some rhythm back. It wasn't easy, but I was prepared for that. I am very happy to have been able to help the team."

Pablo Sarabia (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)
"This match was very important for us because Monaco showed at the Parc des Princes that they are a big side. It was therefore important for us to win and to feel good. I am feeling better and better. When the coach gives me the chance to play, I try to do my best. I had the chance to score and I am happy to have been able to bring something to the team."

Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain forward)
"We wanted to show that we were a good team and that it it possible to be held when a team comes and puts in a good performance at the Parc. We are happy, because playing matches with this intensity is good for us and helps us to progress. We talk too much about a 4-4-2? I think we speak a bit too much about the four up-front. We play as 11 men and not four. The fantastic four, that's not our thing. We leave the superlatives to the people on the outside. We are aware of the effort that we need to put in, but it's over a period of time that we will be able to show that. The first goal scored with no celebration? It's normal. You have to respect that I came through the ranks here." speaking to Canal+
