Thomas Tuchel: "Be more clinical"

On the eve of taking on FC Metz in a delayed Round 1 Ligue 1 match, the Paris Saint-Germain coach answered questions from journalists.

THE SQUAD

"Mbappé and Florenzi won't be with us, and neither will the three players that got red cards against Marseille. The rest of the squad are available, some will join us back in training today and we'll make certain choices later. Navas and Kehrer are uncertain for the moment."

THE SOLUTIONS AGAINST METZ

"Since the restart, we've been lacking forwards. I'm not sure that we could have played a better match against Marseille, knowing that we played a Champions League final and that we didn't have time to prepare. We didn't take our chances and we need to be more clinical."

SPIRIT IN THE SQUAD

"We've just lost three games in a row and we're not used to that, but we mustn't lose sight of the context. The situation is complicated but we played some good matches, without getting the results in the end. I don't want to focus only on the results, especially not now, and I don't want to talk of a crisis, but we need to turn the situation around and simply be better."

MARQUINHOS

"It's logical that he has the armband this season. Marquinhos in midfield offers us a lot of solutions, and he's capable of helping the centre-halves, and being decisive. Given the situation, we're going to need him at centre-half, but he can play both roles and is now very versatile. It's a good thing for us that he's back in training and we're very happy about that."

MARSEILLE

"All we were missing was goals. We controlled the match and we were well structured on the field. We won the ball back 18 times in the opposition half, including 11 in the final 20 metres. Those are very beautiful statistics but you can also lose matches when you play well and bad luck is part of the game. We cannot stay angry for too long after the result as we need to move forward and focus on our football."
