Thomas Tuchel: 'A special match'

The Paris Saint-Germain coach is looking forward to pitting his side against Real Madrid in a showpiece occasion at the Parc des Princes in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League group-stage opener.

TACTICS

"We like to be active. I don't want us to be passive and Real Madrid have the ball. They have a lot of experience in this competition, and they've won it a lot. I want us to be aggressive and play quickly. It's a tough game, a big game, but it's the first. It's not going to decide anything. I want us to play with courage, play to win and make our fans enjoy it. It's a special match because it's Real Madrid and because it's Paris Saint-Germain. We have to put in a good performance to give ourselves confidence. That's the goal."

TEAM SPIRIT

"We're calm. We have players missing, just like Real. It's a shame, but I have faith in my players. I'm convinced we'll see a good Paris Saint-Germain team that can cause Madrid problems. The spirit is good, we have won five of our six games. There are little things that give us confidence. I'm optimistic."

PRESNEL KIMPEMBE AND MAURO ICARDI

"Presnel is in great shape physically. He's been training hard for ten to 12 weeks. He's in shape and can play. It's a bit different for Mauro. I don't know exactly what shape he's in, how many minutes he can play. I don't know if it's him who'll start the game or Choupo-Moting, or both...We're missing some forwards, we have to find solutions, but I have faith in my players. I'm sure we'll have a strong team on Wednesday."

KEYLOR NAVAS

"Of course it's a special game for him. He was Real's goalkeeper for several seasons and he did well there. The position of goalkeeper is special, with special rules. You have to be very strong mentally, and even more so when you're Real's goalkeeper. That means I'm very happy he's with us now. He's very good, calm, always smiling, and has a good attitude."
