Tuchel: 'A great final between two great teams'

Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel spoke to the media at the traditional pre-match press conference ahead of the UEFA Champions League final against FC Bayern Munich this Sunday in Lisbon.

SQUAD

“Since the match against RB Leipzig, Marco Verratti and Idrissa Gueye have trained normally, no problems. Both players are available. Can Marco play 90 or 120 minutes? No, but if nothing happens to him in training he is ready to play some part. He feels good. We will decide if he starts or not. For Keylor Navas, he train for the first time fully today. It will be a clear yes or no tonight, black or white. We will decide after training.”

TACTICS

“We respect all our opponents. We give my players information about all our opponents, both defensively and offensively. It will be very difficult against Bayern who have won their last 20 matches in a row in all competitions. They play with great intensity and are very physical. But there is always a solution. It will be difficult, but it’s a final. We have to find the right mix of playing our own football, playing with freedom, to create chances and play with confidence. Space will be the key. It’s a final, so it’s not the match to change everything. We just modify the little details. It will be a great final between two great teams.”

EXPERIENCE

“Keylor Navas, Neymar Jr and Angel Di Maria have all won the Champions League. The fact that Bayern are a club used to playing these types of matches is a slight advantage, but not critical. Bayern are a great club that continue to progress and grow in Europe. It’s a big challenge for us, but we are confident. We are focused only on that. We deserve to be here. It will be a great game and we are ready. We are preparing for this match the same way we did for Borussia Dortmund, Atalanta and RB Leipzig. We want to make the most of these final moments of the season.”
