The Tuchel Touch

Since arriving in Paris last summer, Thomas Tuchel has impressed Rouge et Bleu fans and neutral observers alike. Personality, character and tactics, the German coach has already made his mark in the French capital.

Paris Saint-Germain’s record of ten Ligue 1 wins out of ten speaks for itself. Thomas Tuchel has led the club to the best ever start in the history of French football. In 13 matches in all competitions this season, Paris have won 12 – the only reverse, the last minute loss away to Liverpool on the opening day of the UEFA Champions League. It translates as 92% wins – exceptional.

Thomas Tuchel’s objective: help the capital club continue to grow, and to grow with a new mentality, dedicated to playing attractive football, already part of the club’s DNA, with more pressing (+28%) and more intensity in matches (+25%) compared to last season.

It’s no surprise that the stats are impressive. Les Rouge et Bleu have scored at least three goals in each of their ten Ligue 1 matches – another first in the history of the league. Paris Saint-Germain boast the best attack in Europe’s top 5 leagues with 37 goals scored in Ligue 1, compared to 27 for Borussia Dortmund and 26 for Manchester City. And finally, three of our forwards are in Europe’s top four players for goals scored per minutes played: Mbappé (1.78 goals / 90 minutes), Neymar (1.01 goals) and Cavani (0.95 goals). Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is second with 1.09 goals.

Playing some of the most attacking football in Europe, Les Rouge et Bleu also have eight goals in two Champions League matches.
